Mountain Creek

If you will be home next week and are looking for a staycation idea, why not check out Mountain Creek?  According to their Mountain Report on their website, they will open the mountain on Monday, Dec. 26.  If you would like to go skiing, snowboarding or tubing, Mountain Creek is a nice place to visit, especially since they recently opened their new Red Tail Lodge.

Make the most of your time off!

Candlelight Tours

If you are looking for something to do in the evenings, you might think about visiting the historic home of American author Washington Irving.  His home site, named Sunnyside, is located right on the Hudson River in Tarrytown, New York.  The beautifully landscaped grounds and authentic interior of the home are decorated by candlelight, providing the perfect setting to hear excerpts of Irving's stories and personal letters.  Piano accompaniment, hot cider and a roaring fire await you right next door to Sleepy Hollow.

October 20th-National Day on Writing

*Why a National Day on Writing?
In light of the significance of writing in our national life, to draw attention to the remarkable variety of writing we engage in, and to help writers from all walks of life recognize how important writing is to their lives, NCTE established October 20 as The National Day on Writing.  The National Day on Writing:
  • points to the importance of writing instruction and practice at every grade level, for every student and in every subject area from preschool through university (see The Genteel Unteaching of America’s Poor),
  • emphasizes the lifelong process of learning to write and composing for different audiences, purposes, and occasions, and
  • encourages Americans to write and enjoy and learn from the writing of others.
If you would like to get involved and show others how important writing is to you, please visit this link and add your work to the National Gallery of Writing.  You can invite others to get involved or share their work too.

Back To School, Back To School

Hello and welcome to my CCLOG.  My name is Ashley Rubolotta.

This is my fifth year at Craig High School.  I am an English teacher responsible for writing, literature and performing arts classes.  If you ever need to contact me, please e-mail me at arubolotta@craigschool.org.  Beyond academics, I am also the newspaper/school magazine advisor and one of the two National Honor's Society's advisers, the other being Mrs. Bhakta.

From time to time I may post an amusing story or a helpful link to my home page or class specific pages, which can be found on the sidebar.  Biweekly posts will be made to update you on the great things we are covering.  Be sure to check for new content.

So welcome back to another great year at Craig!  I look forward to working with all of you this year.  I hope your transition back to school was just as exciting as, but smoother than, Adam Sandler's transition back.*
